Trudy Whitney was born in Camden, NY. She earned a B.A. in Art at SUNY, Buffalo, with her art certification simultaneously at the Albright Art School.

An educator in the Rochester area, she earned her M.A. from Nazareth College, affiliating there with art groups and galleries.

With her move to Florida in 1986, she continued to embrace area art groups with her same enthusiasm and participation.

Her teaching experiences and parenting richly influenced her experimental expression in two and three dimensional mixed media.

Currently her direction leads to multi-layered media on canvas and paper focusing on fresh interpretations drawn from her insights and travel.

She says: "I find excitement working in mixed media with emphasis on semi-abstract interpretations. The spontaneous patterns and rich hues speak to me. Some expressions evolve out of an intuitive energy all their own. In non-subjective references I have used strong positive/negative spatial relationships along with linear drawing elements. It is of primary importance to me that my work invoke an original element for me to feel that it is successful."

Trudy prizes a video cameo in which art critic Joan Altabe expressed the "fresh jewel (color) transparency" in her featured painting, Musician."

The national art jurist Louise Cadilac named her painting, "Sojourn," as the Best of Show in the International Society of Experimental Artists.

Publications: Best of Watercolor in Texture and The Collected Best of Watercolor.

Her art has received numerous area awards and been juried into state exhibjtions: Georgia Watercolor Society and Florida Watercolor Society.
